Soapbox Race in Val Thorens: get your ride ready for the most fun event of the summer !
On August 5, 2026, the resort of Val Thorens will host one of the most anticipated summer events: the big soapbox race around Place Péclet. Organized by the Sports Clubs of Val Thorens and Les Menuires, this fourth edition promises a day full of creativity, speed, and good vibes.
At PLP Sports, we love events that bring together sports enthusiasts, families, and friends around fun mountain experiences. And this race clearly ticks all the boxes.
The concept is simple: build your own soapbox and race down the course in a fun, festive atmosphere. Whether you are a weekend DIY builder, a creative rider, or a competitive spirit, this is the perfect opportunity to bring a completely wild idea to life.
Adult teams can be made up of 1 to 3 people, with the driver required to be over 14 years old. Several rankings will be established:
a stage by stage ranking
an overall championship across the three summer dates
and, of course, awards for the most original creations
All day long, Place Péclet will come alive with races, entertainment, and cheering crowds. On the program:
children’s race starting at 1:00 PM
technical checks and course reconnaissance
adult race start at 3:30 PM
podium ceremonies
entertainment
food stands and barbecue
The event is also designed for younger participants, with a dedicated race for children aged 10 to 13 using vehicles provided by the organizers.
Three stages will take place this summer in the Belleville Valley:
July 5 in Saint Martin de Belleville
July 14 in Les Menuires
August 5 in Val Thorens
A great way to enjoy multiple festive events throughout the summer.
At PLP Sports, we are already excited to discover the wildest creations of the 2026 edition. With its mountain spirit, creativity, and summer atmosphere, this soapbox race is set to be a highlight of the season in Val Thorens.
So are you ready to build the fastest or the most stylish soapbox in the resort?
